The Nation's Health (APHA), October 2010;40(8) The theme of this year’s APHA Annual Meeting is “Social Justice: A Public Health Imperative.” What is your definition of social justice as it relates to public health? In my view, social justice is communities treating other communities as they would like others to treat them. This is the fundamental teaching of almost every founder of the world’s major religions. It is unfortunate that the base instincts of humans often work against this teaching.
